Summer

Coste, in the summer, is a coastline of blue water to travel, a multitude of beaches and sandy coves to walk, such as l’Échourie in Natashquan where you can swim, boulders to climb and look out over the ocean for passing whales, small harbours filed with fishing boats coming and going, rivers, lakes and waterfalls that glisten, quaint little villages, impressive capes, vast expanses to wander, a groundcover that inspires you to look for and pick the multitude of berries that grow until late autumn. Anticosti beaches where you will find shells and fossilized rocks, trails to explore and that take you back, always, to the water: the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, the meanderings of a river or a lost lake, finally found. And the expanse of the sea, see the dock getting closer, home port for a weekend. The summer, is also the rain knocking at your window or the fog rolling in, a small fire to fight off the dampness, the rocking chair, a good book in hand. Enjoy a good seafood meal with the locals while they share with you stories of their past, present and uncertain future.

Coste, in the fall: the season where all of the beautiful things of summer, the magnificent impressions of the countryside, the daily reality, touch the visitor to their very core. From the very first days of September to just about mid-October, is the time to intimately discover the Minganie, the Mingan Islands and the charming Lower North Shore. Although slightly cooler, the temperature remains rather favourable. A well-kept secret you will want to take advantage of.
